Important information about Online Recording

The butterfly season is beginning to come to an end for the year. Please could I ask all online recorders to read the following information:

As from 22:00 on Sunday 13th October 2013 the request system/page for Online Recording ID’s will be closed until the 2014 season. Please could we ask that you DO NOT make up a recorders ID, if you have not received one, as if your records have an issue with them, and we can not contact you, they will NOT be included.

Online recording, for 2013, will be closed down for the season as of 22:00 on Sunday 20th October 2013.

Please could I ask online recorders to make sure all their records are submitted before then. Please could I also ask online recorders to go through their submitted records on our website, and inform me via email of any corrections etc. Please let me know of any before Friday 18th October 2013.

All online records will be then given to our branch butterfly recorder on Friday 25th October 2013. If you have any records to send in, after online recording closes for the season, please email them to Harry E. Clarke or pop them in the post. Thank you for your co-operation.

IMPORTANT UPDATE/NEWS

We have made some changes to the online recording system/page this season.

As from 2013, we now have two online recording forms:

One recording form will be for recording Butterflies in Surrey locations (out in the field – e.g. Oaken Wood, Denbies Hillside).

The other recording form will be for recording Butterflies seen in peoples gardens.

We have also changed the search through sightings pages:

Any records submitted using the Surrey (out in the field) recording form can be searched through and will continue to display the grid reference or post code submitted by the recorder in any searches performed.

Any records submitted using the Butterfly Garden recording form can be searched through but will NOT display the grid reference or post code submitted by the recorder in any searches performed.

All online records sent to our branch buttefly recorder will have the submitted grid reference or post code included.

Online Recording Information

Before you submit a butterfly sighting(s) online, we would ask you to request a unique recorders ID. Please click on the “Request a online butterfly recorders ID” button to find out more and to request one. If you requested one in 2010, 2011, 2012 or already have requested and received yours then you do not need to request another ID before submitting your sighting(s).

Please note that the online recorders ID issued to you is only for use on our online recording pages and should not be used if you are submitting your sightings by email or through the post.

At the end September all the submitted online butterfy records are sent off to our branch butterfly recorder.

All records (including the online records) are processed and submitted to Butterfly Conservation HQ by our County Butterfly Recorder Harry E. Clarke to become part of Butterfly Conservation’s national recording database and scheme. They also form part of our yearly butterfly reports
